It might look primitive but works for me always when the screws are useless.
First steady the carb on the bench.Apply WD40 and hit vertically the screws with a hammer some times (like an impact driver whould do).Then make a slash to the side of the head of the screw (vertically).Take an old flat screwdriver ,position it with aprox 30 degree angle to the slash (almost parallel to the top of the carb )and use the hammer on it to rotate the screw.Not very hard but continously.
